      Tooth Pain Relief

      by Caroline Harris

So, you’ve got a toothache. Now what? Do you need to go to the doctors? Yes, that’s one option. However, what if you don’t have time? What if you need immediate tooth pain relief? Don’t worry, there is something to help with that. You may not know this, but Advil is a great way to go about getting some tooth pain relief.

Usually, Advil is prescribed to help with headaches or joint pain, but it has its alternative uses. One of those uses just so happens to be helping with immediate tooth pain relief.

      Advil and Tooth Pain Relief

Those who are looking for tooth pain relief are likely suffering from some sort of a toothache. Know that a toothache can begin suddenly, and the pain can worsen very quickly. Many experience the following symptoms when dealing with a toothache or some sort of tooth pain: swelling around the mouth and/or tooth, bleeding from the gums, and pain when eating. However, Advil will help counter attack this process, ultimately helping with tooth pain relief. Why? Because Advil helps to control inflammation.

Essentially, Advil is Ibuprofen, and Ibuprofen helps to block the COX enzyme. This enzyme is used in the output of a chemical that causes inflammation, as well as fever and pain. As a result, Advil can help because it reduces inflammation, which is likely the culprit of an individual’s tooth pain.

It’s worth mentioning that just because Advil is an over-the-counter drug does not mean that it can be abused, nor does it mean there aren’t side effects. It may act as a tooth painkiller, but taking Advil, for instance, as a tablet, does have its risks. So, don’t be alarmed if you experience nausea, upset stomach, dizziness, or vomiting. If, however, you experience any of the following serious side effects of taking Advil for tooth pain relief, contact your doctor immediately:

      • Vision and/or hearing changes
      • Stiff neck, for no reason
      • Bruising and/or bleeding
      • Unusual tiredness
