      Atopic Eczema Treatments

Are you looking for atopic eczema treatments? It’s itchy, but there are options out there. More than 18 million adults in America suffer from atopic eczema. If you are in dire need of eczema relief, all you have to do is read this article, or speak with your doctor.

      Atopic Eczema Treatments

First of all, atopic eczema, otherwise called atopic dermatitis, is a severe kind of eczema. That is why there are plenty of treatments available. If you experience any of the following symptoms, you may want to speak with your doctor about your options for atopic eczema treatments:

      • Redness and/or itching
      • Dry skin
      • Open sores

Here are a few atopic eczema treatments that can help cure, or at the very least, reduce these symptoms.

      1. Topical Medications:

Apply these topical medications directly to the skin. They will help to control symptoms as well as reduce inflammation, which is usually the source of the pain.

      2. Immunosuppressant Drugs:

These drugs will essentially curb an individual’s immune system. Side effects of these drugs are as follows: upset stomach, increased risk of getting infections, increased risk of liver damage, and increased blood pressure.

      3. Phototherapy:

This is a type of light treatment used to help relieve the symptoms (depending on the severity) of atopic eczema. The most common style of phototherapy for those with eczema is the narrowband ultraviolet B light.

      4. Biologic Drugs:

These drugs will target specific areas of an individual’s immune system. There are side effects, with the most common being pink eye, otherwise known as conjunctivitis, and cold sores on the mouth and/or lips.

      The Takeaway

Did any of these atopic eczema treatments stand out to you? Remember that you do have other options, and the best way to figure out which atopic eczema treatments are best suited to your condition is to speak with a doctor.
